In the midst of the Covid 19 pandemic in 2020, The Event Freelancer Summit was conceived. The events industry had been decimated, and there were thousands of freelancers out there who were looking for support, advice and information.
Steve Squires & Ajay Parekh of Connektd - Your Freelance Community, decided that an online summit would be an ideal way of leveraging their contacts and experience to bring those freelancers what they were looking for.
The event took place on 22nd July 2020, with speakers including Simon Hughes, Chair of BVEP; Martin Hughes, Editorial Director at Mash Media; Adrian Bell, CEO of Action Impact and Michael Whyrley-Birch, CEO of TRO. It was attended by 800 people from around the world, and was received as one of the best virtual events that many of the participants had attended
The Event Freelancer Summit is in the shortlist for an award at the Digital Event Awards on 18th March 2021, in the category of "Best Audience Engagement Model"
